about

This entertainment agency began in 1988, when a young piano tuner called Geirr Dippner decided to become an agent. He had no artists and no clients, and yet this determined Norwegian man went on to create a home for the leading piano entertainers in the world.

The piano bar concept began about 30 years ago when a handful of English musicians came to Norway and began by playing rock n roll on acoustic pianos. Gradually some began to use drums, bass keyboards and electric pianos, and the result was truly electric - a one-man band with the power of a DJ and who can play anything the audience asks. The concept became very popular across Scandinavia, with many clubs, pubs and bars adopting the style and developing what we now know as piano bar entertainment. The artists who came to Norway were received like superstars; the payments were high, and thus Norway became a magnet for the very best musicians in the world. Everyone wanted to play in Norway, and Geirr Dippner’s agency looked after the best of the best.

Since those days Dippner Entertainment has grown to book live music in bars, clubs and venues across the globe. Although piano entertainment is at the very heart of the business, the agency now also books large corporate events featuring all kinds of entertainment: from celebrity comics to hidden theatre, from classical piano and troubadours to world-famous band-on-tour bookings. In 2019 Vanessa Knight, former owner of London record label Regent Street Records, Director of the British Phonographic Industry and mentor at the infamous Abbey Road Studios, and currently President of Virgin Music in London joined the leadership team at Dippner Entertainment Agency. Vanessa’s expertise in cutting-edge technology, helped elevate setup the Agency for the future in the industry.

In 2020, Geirr was officially retired from the Agency and he and Vanessa turned the directorship of the Agency to the legendary entertainer and entrepreneur Tammy Tanner. Tammy kept the the agency stable throughout the global pandemic storm. Now that the industry is recovering post pandemic, Tammy is focused on maintaining stability, consistency in servicing the entertainment industry and especially developing programs to educate, support and mentor the next generation of piano entertainers.
